We LOVE this place. I would have rated it a 10 if the Wi-Fi was not so flakey. It seemed that 90% of the time I had trouble getting a connection. But then, with the beautiful surroundings, why would anyone be online? Okay, sometimes you do need to connect with reality. We made reservations for 1 week, extended for two and then were able to get a site on the water for 5 days with a view of where the Umpqua meets the ocean and decided to go make it 3 weeks. We have already made our reservations for next year. This place is extremely popular, there is no place like it when it comes to the views. We like the little town of Winchester as well as Reedsport. In general the Oregon coast is awesome and this place is a good one for setting up your base and exploring if you like seafood or fishing (especially crabbing), you can't miss it. But then, maybe you should go someplace else so I can get a reservation next time I try.
This is a beautiful State Park, however, it has not been upgraded since it was built. The location is great, so close to the coast and the Umpqua lighthouse, but the facilities are dated. The hosts are friendly and helpful, but we really had problems with the sewer connections and never really got a tight fit even with much trying and host help. Some of the sites are pretty shaded and can be a bit dark especially during the frequent local rains. It is nice to have campfires and we will return again only for a shorter stay. We stayed for 2 weeks and one would have been perfect.
We stayed here for 9 days in the middle of the summer. It is a great place during the week but for a holiday or busy weekend, it can be pretty cozy as some of the sites are pretty close together. The staff are great - friendly and helpful. The place is clean and nicely landscaped with lots of grass and big trees. The WiFi was okay, the laundry room was clean and the machines worked. There is a great restaurant very close by. We did some exploring in the area and will come back again.
This is a great park. It is really a campground that has facilities for RV's (full connections & cable). It has dirt sites that are fairly level. It certainly is not a fancy "RV resort" but I like this style of camping for a change. Lots of families with kids, who so far have been well behaved. There is a good restaurant (great hamburgers!) inside the gates as well as a small grocery store. The beach is nice and refreshing in the hot weather. There are lots of trees that provide shade and the temp is cooler here than town which is a few miles away. Lake Shasta is spectacular and the town of Mt. Shasta City is very picturesque. We will definitely come back. I would have rated it a 10 if there was free Wi-Fi (you have to pay for a service, which is slow) and if it was easier to reach someone in the office. Making reservations by phone can be difficult (but worth the persistence).
We have stayed here several times over the years and when planing our latest trip we read the reviews and were shocked at the negative comments. We figured things had really changed. We almost did not come here, but we had business close by so chose to take a chance. Much to our surprise the folks in the office were extremely helpful and cheerful. There do seem to be some new rules that are a little weird - where you can and cannot park with our size rig, in spite of being willing to pay the additional fee, but we did get a nice spot with an ocean view. It is a little pricey when compared to some of the other places we have stayed on our most recent trip, but we do have an ocean view (at least until another rig moves in next door)! Unless things change over our stay we will definitely stay here again.
This is an okay spot for an over nighter when traveling up or down the state on Hwy 5. But the downside is that you are close to Hwy 5 and the associated noise – big rigs running all night. The place is a getting run down and we made the mistake of choosing a site (after looking at their map online) that was amongst the folks that obviously live here full time - some pretty run down rigs and spaces. We moved to a spot that the map showed as a double which is why we chose the first spot, but they are letting folks use the double spot for just one rig and their tow or toad vehicle (you have to unhook to fit, the spaces are short). The space is okay - again the place is in need of some repairs and/or updating. There is no cable in some of the spaces, only where the permanent rigs are. The folks in the office are nice and helpful, but not too terribly professional and place is pretty dirty/smelly. I desperately needed to do laundry but the laundry room was so filthy I would not even take my dirty clothes in there, chose to do some hand washing and wait till next stop. We will stay here again if we have to travel up or down the state, but only for a night as most folks appear to do, and now that we know the lay of the land it will be easier to pick a spot without driving in circles.
We arrived on Labor Day after most had left. Hubby was unhappy because there was dog poop all over and garbage on the beach - probably all left over from the weekend. Once everyone left, we had a nice stay in a spot directly overlooking the lake. Water level really down. Space was nice once the noise and wind died down. If we go back it will be mid week when quieter. Spaces are very close together but without anyone else next to us - was nice.
After reading the prior reviews we were worried about staying here, but it turned out to be okay/good. The spaces were close together but with grass between and fairly level - nice shade trees. Laundry was clean and inexpensive - folks in the office nice and helpful. We would have rated higher if they had a dog walk area, you are supposed to walk only on the grass area next to your rig - not enough room for a good walk. Close to good shopping, which we needed after 3 weeks on the road. Is fairly close to the freeway, but the noise was not a problem or really noticed. We were only going to stay one night but extending another because we needed to dry out after 2 days of rain in our prior location. If ever in the area we would stay here again.
The place was spotless, had all the amenities and a wonderful location. Sites were level, with grass and picnic tables. The staff was among the friendliest and most helpful we have encountered in our travels. This is so close to the entrance of West Yellowstone it makes day trips to explore the park super easy. We really enjoyed our stay here and will return on our way back home.
This is the second time we have stayed here in the past two weeks (to and from Yellowstone from CA). We stayed in the back lot and like the nice grassy areas with trees which gives a sense of privacy between rigs. No picnic tables, but they probably want you to hang out in the casino, not the RV area. Spaces are paved and relatively level. There is not a lot to do here, except gamble, eat and relax. The hotel has a nice pool, which you can use. I can't imagine staying more than a night or two but is a nice place if passing thru. As mentioned there is double parking in the pull thrus in back (one rig behind another) and I guess you could get stuck and unable to get out, but not a problem either time we were there. We would stay here again if in the area.
Well kept, nice folks, SO clean. The best dog runs that I have ever seen. Level sites, easy hookups. Sites are close together and it would be nice with more shade but everything else makes up for it.
This place is convenient if traveling through Nevada, we stayed one night on the way east. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The campground has some nice features, gravel pull-thru with a concrete patio and grass next to it. However, there were no picnic tables??? The dog run was filthy - evidently no one picks up after their dog! We had a pull-thru spot next to our kids in a larger motorhome and we both thought the rates a little high considering... It appears that there are some folks living here, although the motorhomes or trailers that they are in are in good condition. We would stay here again for a night if traveling through.
We really enjoyed this place and extended our stay by 5 days. The spots are not level, but we were able to work it out with our stabilizers. There are lots of trees and a large rig with slide outs might have to maneuver more than we had to. You can't beat the view of the Tetons from across the road and there is so much to do in the park, this was a good central point. We did not get any satellite reception - but the scenery was so stunning we spent most of the time exploring. I would imagine this place is a zoo in the summer but very peaceful in mid September. If ever in the area again we will return.
We like this place, very clean and really nice people. We had a spot right overlooking the Sac river and the large grass area. The spaces are level and very well maintained. Nice dog run as well. It is very peaceful and each space has landscaping to make it feel secluded. We also enjoyed exploring Redding and the surrounding area and will return.
